The Fashion Show highlights the political and communicative nature of clothing as contemporary art. Clothing is not merely an adornment; it is an extension of the self–a second skin through which we signal our identity, our desires, and our sense of belonging.

Clothing intimately envelops our bodies to shelter and comfort, while sustaining us through daily contact with beauty. In contrast to the exploitative, harmful modes of fast fashion, artists have invested every stitch with care to heal both the wearer and the maker.

Upcycling careworn domestic textiles into enchanting ensembles, Lisa Wicklund weaves together her childhood imaginings of distant glamour and the comforting shelter of her childhood bedroom. Few fashion statements are as iconic and heavy-handed as the MAGA trucker hat; Geanna Rae inverts, perverts and subverts this symbol of divisive politics by emblazoning her garments with messages that affirm Indigenous identity and advocate for land rights.

David Le’s size-inclusive, hand-printed garments mix gender and cultural signifiers of colonization, while Jason Baerg’s collections draw on natural cycles and propose fashion as a way to activate our bodies as spaces for ceremony.

Each time we get dressed, we bring stories and dreams to life. The Fashion Show reveals how clothing can serve as autobiography, activism and aspiration, inviting viewers to consider how what we wear communicates who we are—and who we want to be.

Some of you have asked if the pieces in The Fashion Show are available for purchase. We’re happy to help connect you!

At the Art Gallery of Regina (AGR), our main focus is making contemporary art accessible and free for all. While we rarely sell artwork, this exhibition puts fashion—something we’re used to seeing as a commodity—in a new light, emphasizing its value and meaning as art. The garments on display are unique, handmade works that capture our shared experience, with prices set by the artists to reflect their individuality and significance.

If you’re interested in acquiring select pieces, you can visit Jason Baerg’s Ayimach_Horizons website or Lisa Wicklund’s Seed Sustainable Style site (her designs are also available at Holt Renfrew). Geanna Rae’s limited-edition, artist-signed hats transform iconic political symbols into powerful art objects. Ten of each design are for sale through the AGR’s staff or website.
