Head to Toe features works for sale by local artists, including Mercedes Redman from Standing Buffalo First Nation and Jayda Delorme from Cowessess First Nation.
Incorporated in 1996, Sâkêwêwak has been supporting Indigenous artists in the Regina area for over two decades. All artists need a community of support, and members to engage with in order to succeed. Sâkêwêwak provides this support, giving artists a chance to create, grow, and reach audiences.

In the summer of 2020, I saw a few discarded medical masks while walking the dogs. I did not think much about them until I found one in the back alley behind my own house. Prompted by these seemingly insignificant discoveries, I started photographing all the discarded masks I came across. I began to view litter created by medical masks as a contagion spreading across the landscape.
This new type of pandemic-created litter stands in contrast to the previously much-maligned scourge of plastic waste from single-use drinking straws. As plastic straws were rapidly disappearing from our lives, public safety concerns introduced a new demand for single-use masks.
In these discarded objects of convenience, we can read people's attitudes to each other and the environment.
Florence Duesterbeck is a Regina-based artist who is currently working in photo-based and print-based media. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Regina and continues to work towards her Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Visual Arts. This is the first solo exhibition. Viewing the world through the viewfinder of a camera allows Florence to observe the world around her deeply, revealing details that are often passed over and changing her perspective on everyday surroundings. This close-looking, facilitated by the photographic act, encourages Florence, and viewers of her artworks, in turn, to ponder the meaning expressed in the everyday artifacts and tableau of our current cultural moment.
