"A Taste of New York"

Our annual “Feast for the Eyes” fund raising gala was held on Saturday, October 22rd with guest host Ted Deller from CBC Radio. The event celebrates the Fine Art of Food and this year’s theme was a Taste of New York. Culinary selections included Waldorf Salad, oysters on the half shell, and of course, NY style cheese cake, plus a fabulous assortment of treats from Chocolates by Bernard Callebaut.

In addition to the food, the event featured a silent auction and our NY Subway Bar with musical entertainment by Arnie Davis. Guests voted on their favorite food and the Gallery presented the 2011 Red Plate Awards to the winning chefs and restaurants. The awards were presented by David Ramsay, restaurant writer for the Leader Post; Karen Schoonover, Director/Curator of the AGR; and event sponsor Terrie Dunand from RE/MAX Crown Real Estate Ltd.

The 2011 RED PLATE AWARDS:

Chef James Scott from All Souped Up received the Audience Choice Award. Chef JD Zaremba and staff from Slow Brew Pub and Sports Bar won for Best Flavour. Chef Tyrone Doucette and staff from Bushwakker Brewing Co. won for Most Artistic Presentation as well as the Best Chef Award.

Seasonal Art Cards: Now Available

The Art Gallery of Regina is now selling Seasonal Art Cards celebrating Saskatchewan Art. The cards and envelopes are available in sets of twelve at a cost of $10.00. Each set includes twelve different images of the winter season reproduced from original artworks by Saskatchewan artists.

Featured are works by Jeanne d'Arc Gaudet, Anne Falconer Packham, Beth Gaffney, Shirley Guest, Donna Kriekle,
Jana Kutarna, Sharron Labatt, Wee Lee, John Macfarlane, Bonnie McBride, Doug Welykholowa, and Tom Young.

All proceeds from the sale of these items go to support the programming of the Art Gallery of Regina.
